The Bitchum Society is here!

Wednesday, June 29th, 2005

The Daily Mail report “Scientists ‘raise the dead’ in experiement” where zombie dogs were raised from the dead by the guys in white coats. Funnily enough I was just reading Cory Doctorow’s book “Down and out in the Magic Kingdom” this morning where he talks of the Bitchum Society, where the cure for death has meant that people tend to live rather recklessly and can be restored into brand new force-grown clone bodies, their memories being restored from backups that they have to continuously make. My experience of backups doesn’t fill me with confidence.

Hmmm interesting: defining yourself in the wikipedia. Cory I like your thinking.

Back in one piece from Glastonbury 2005!

Wednesday, June 29th, 2005

Well only just…totally exhausted, dirty, smelly and sunburnt. It was brilliant! You wouldn’t have thought it from my mobile blogging and all the reports in the main stream media now, would you? Yes, as predicted my motorolla V3 battery ran out after barely a day…and the replacement one I bought on ebay decided to not work. But I am pretty happy that the posts from Thurday and Friday made it. Also interested to see that in just over a day 3 of the photos, which are hosted on flickr, had over 2500 views (1 had 3600!). I wonder if any of those folks saw my blog.

Friday: the Thrills, the Zutons, the Killers, the White Stripes, Bloc Party were all great. The after effects of the flash flooding was pretty funny. Though my friend Pat, who woke up with a river running through his tent, didn’t seem to find it quite as amusing as me… Right after I took the photo of all the submerged tents, we saw two guys in a canoo trying to find their tents: and I thought I came prepared. Backstage at the Jazzworld Stage was pretty good. Incredible trumbone player, no idea who he was…but to be honest the music ended up a bit cerebral with lots of the jazz hardcores noding their heads and stroking their beards looking very serious.

Saturday: the Kaiser Chiefs, Ash, Casabian and Coldplay were all excellent. Interpol and hexstatic were pretty disapointing. The lost vagueness was pretty weird and interesting in the evening. A few backstages and some impromptue parties latter it was hi time to go to bed.

Sunday: A late start to the day with Van Morrison. Soulwax reminded me that belgian people are actually pretty cool followed by Brian Wilson in the blazing sunshine which was superb and made even better by a gang of surfers armed with actual surf boards, croud surfing their way to to the stage. Garbage were pretty good for a band that I’m not too fond of. Primal Scream were very rock and roll, having to be literally dragged off stage. Basement Jaxx finished off with a cracking set…though I had seen them last year. Still it was fun to jump around to.

Right I’m sick of typing.

It really was great…roll on 2007!

It seemed like a good idea at the time

It seemed like a good idea at the timeThese two crazy kids were clearly finding something very funny. I made for higher ground as I feared it might be contagious. Shit laugh if you ask me. Soon they will realise the gravity me the situation: cold, covered in mud, no way of showering…and its only day one.

And I thought I was having a bad Glasto2005

Honestly why some people insist on camping next to the toilets at the bottom of a hill?

On the westway heading, err well west. Its hot like a bad day in the desert. What we really need now is a police escort out of London. There’s a tent with my name on it somewhere in the vicinity of the stone circle. Oh festival gods, treat us kindly…

Woohooo here we go…

Confirmation that my lift up to Glasto2005 will be arriving outside the door of the Creature Shop in Camden immenently. Have I packed everything? Is it going to rain? who will be there? What will happen? …only fate will tell…and this blog too.

Fortune and glory kid, fortune and glory.

Now would be a good time to make a trip to a nice clean flushable loo.

Next time you hear from me I’ll be on the move…

Backstage at the Jazz World Stage

Thursday, June 23rd, 2005

Things are getting better. Just got a call from my old friend Jon aka Dr Jon of Leisure Recordings and Blowback Magazine who, amoung other things does a cracking night called Flight Society at both Ruby Lounges in London. Anyway turns out he’s bringing his fantastic label down to Glasto2005 with a Dr Jon set tomorrow night backstage at the Jazz World Stage.

Get ready for a set packed with funk, soul, hip-hop, house and eighties classics. Its high time you got down!

I love it when a plan comes together.
