Back in one piece from Glastonbury 2005!
Well only just…totally exhausted, dirty, smelly and sunburnt. It was brilliant! You wouldn’t have thought it from my mobile blogging and all the reports in the main stream media now, would you? Yes, as predicted my motorolla V3 battery ran out after barely a day…and the replacement one I bought on ebay decided to not work. But I am pretty happy that the posts from Thurday and Friday made it. Also interested to see that in just over a day 3 of the photos, which are hosted on flickr, had over 2500 views (1 had 3600!). I wonder if any of those folks saw my blog.
Friday: the Thrills, the Zutons, the Killers, the White Stripes, Bloc Party were all great. The after effects of the flash flooding was pretty funny. Though my friend Pat, who woke up with a river running through his tent, didn’t seem to find it quite as amusing as me… Right after I took the photo of all the submerged tents, we saw two guys in a canoo trying to find their tents: and I thought I came prepared. Backstage at the Jazzworld Stage was pretty good. Incredible trumbone player, no idea who he was…but to be honest the music ended up a bit cerebral with lots of the jazz hardcores noding their heads and stroking their beards looking very serious.
Saturday: the Kaiser Chiefs, Ash, Casabian and Coldplay were all excellent. Interpol and hexstatic were pretty disapointing. The lost vagueness was pretty weird and interesting in the evening. A few backstages and some impromptue parties latter it was hi time to go to bed.
Sunday: A late start to the day with Van Morrison. Soulwax reminded me that belgian people are actually pretty cool followed by Brian Wilson in the blazing sunshine which was superb and made even better by a gang of surfers armed with actual surf boards, croud surfing their way to to the stage. Garbage were pretty good for a band that I’m not too fond of. Primal Scream were very rock and roll, having to be literally dragged off stage. Basement Jaxx finished off with a cracking set…though I had seen them last year. Still it was fun to jump around to.
Right I’m sick of typing.
It really was great…roll on 2007!
