The Q Glastonbury Blog

Thursday, June 23rd, 2005

Just came accross the Glastonbury Blog. looks pretty interesting.

“How to survive the festival season from the artists that played last year’s Glastonbury, courtesy of Franz Ferdinand, Amy Winehouse, Jamie Cullum, The 80s Matchbox B-Line Disaster and Elbow’s Guy”.

Goldie Lookin’ Chain on making the most of “Live Aid”, plus wisdom from Zero 7, Kasabian, The Walkmen, Dogs Die In Hot Cars, Kings Of Leon, Lostprophets and Mr James Brown: “Get organised!”

…and lots more.

Tent setup…

Thursday, June 23rd, 2005

Note for people going to glasto next year: get someone who is a little more keen than you to pitch your tent. Thats what I did and what a relief. No need to worry about having to camp in a ditch or down wind from the toilets… just got confirmation from my friend Lloyd:

“We are near the wall at gate 3c and to the right of the other stage. There’s a cash point nearby. Your tent is setup”

Well go get me some pear cider I’ll be leaving at 4pm Henson time.

Awesome.

Glasto 2005 getting closer…

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2005

The day is getting nearer…its been hard getting any serious work done today but long render times in Final Cut Pro have allowed me to nip down the shops to get some essentials…

  • rain jacket…the weather is predicted to be a bit variable.
  • flip flops
  • hay fever tablets

Also have tried to set my moblogging through flickr up to tag my photos and blog posts that i post while I’m there appropriately…look for glasto2005, glastonbury, glastonbury festival and glasto. i’m new to all this so no idea if it will work.

Anyhow here is a test…

Maps, maps, maps…

Monday, June 20th, 2005

Its been a while since my last post. All sorts of business in my life at the minute with my gran in hospital. Glastonbury is in just a few days and I’m starting to get very excited. Managed to fish my wellies and my boots out of the bag of doom they have been sitting in since last year’s Glasto. Actually they weren’t all that bad as all the mud had gone hard.

Have been playing around with google maps beta (satellite view) over the weekend…and am totally transfixed by it. Actual arial photos taken by satelites all stuck together to make a big map. The detail is amazing and actually a little scary. So far here are some good ones that myself and friends have found…

The Jim Henson Creature Shop in L.A.

New York Yankees Stadium.

An actual Stealth bomber…looks like someone left it out over night.

Naval Air Station Fallon, NV…aka the Top Gun fighter weapon school - zoom in and you can make out all the different planes…F14s, helicopters.

How about the White House. Suspiciously blurry…

Wait a minute…the Pentagon. Now thats pretty cool.

Las Vegas...

Don’t be bad or they might send you to Alcatraz

Hey check out the Hoover Damn! Its so …errr BIG.

Anyone know the address of Area 51?

Its like Sim City but for real! Also had some fun finding friends houses and mailing them the link telling them we were watching them…

Here’s to you and here’s to me,
Best of friends we’ll always be,
And if by chance we disagree
Then fuck you and here’s to me.

It’s a sad day but this is the moment the last ever Ripers were drunk by staff and friends, past and present, down Southside bar. So great to see everyone again!

Mobile blogging for Glastonbury festival 2005 sorted!

Saturday, June 11th, 2005

Have managed to set it up so that I can blog from my Motorolla V3…..with pictures and everything. I plan to blog my way through Glasto 2005. Its only a couple of weeks away now and I’m getting very excited. Anyways you’ll be able to follow it all from my point of view via this blog. I know various people with backstage action…I’ll do my best to get some snaps.

Am also thinking about doing some podcasting while there. Not too sure if I’ll be able to upload stuff while out there or if I’ll have to wait till I get back. Also need to figure out what equipment to use. Any ideas welcome…
